Summary: Conducts complete and objective administrative investigations of alleged employee misconduct, including allegations of criminal law violations, civil rights violations, or departmental policy violations. Manages and ensures compliance with state certification and CALEA accreditation.
Essential Job Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of previous law enforcement experience, including one (1) year experience with internal affairs investigations and 18 months experience as a police supervisor at the rank of Sergeant or higher. High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 40 semester college hours from an accredited college/university or have obtained at least 400 hours of advanced law enforcement-related training or a combination of college hours and training hours to equal 400 equivalent training hours. Must possess and maintain valid Georgia P.O.S.T. Peace Officer certification or be eligible to obtain certification through the equivalency of the training process. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
